Our story

What we do

We formulate skincare that’s gentle on the skin, using beeswax, honey and propolis, along with natural and organic botanical oils.

As active beekeepers, the protection of our natural environment is close to heart. Consequently, reducing our environmental impact is always front of mind. Our straightforward, plastic-reducing packaging, along with our commitment to using natural and organic ingredients, while employing a small-batch production process, are some of the steps we take.

We aim to provide skincare that is kind to the skin, to advocate for the vital role of bees, and to actively pursue sustainability in skincare practices.

The Bees

Beehives across Sussex play a crucial role in producing the beeswax, honey, and propolis used across the skincare range.

Why we do it

Our passion for bees started it all. Having caught the beekeeping bug in 2003 we quickly realised just how fascinating these creatures are. Not only are they vital for the success of most of the food we eat, but they also produce surplus beeswax, honey and propolis – a combination of sustainable and natural ingredients packed full of skincare benefits!

Beeswax

Beeswax forms a protective film on the skin surface, helping reduce water loss.  It is also non-comedogenic (non-pore blocking) and credited with anti-inflammatory properties making it particularly suited to sensitive skin.

Propolis

Propolis is widely used in medicine for its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits. Made up of resins, balsam, waxes, essential oils, pollen, amino acids, vitamins and minerals - propolis can help soothe and protect the skin.

Honey

Honey naturally attracts moisture to the skin, hydrating and plumping the skin surface which helps smooth out fine lines.

How we do it

We create our own formulas and use long-established techniques to produce skincare with the highest natural content possible. The ingredients we use are key to the efficacy of our products, our suppliers have rigorous testing practices in place and where possible we use organically certified oils to further ensure sustainable and ethical farming practices have been followed.

From our lip balms to moisturisers, our range is made in small batches at a maximum of 80 units. This allows for hand-craft, greater attention to detail and reduced waste. We don’t outsource any production, ensuring high standards from start to finish. We make, package and distribute every single product here in Sussex.

All our packaging and product containers are carefully selected to minimise environmental impact. We use glass and aluminium containers wherever possible and only ever use paper labels printed on a sustainably sourced paper stock.

For our local customers we offer a return and refill scheme for glass packaging. And all postal orders are fulfilled using recycled or recyclable packaging.
