Preservatives - good or bad?

Preservatives are legally required in skincare products with water content, for example, moisturisers, shampoos and lotions. Preservatives prevent the growth of bacteria, moulds and yeasts, without which the product would spoil and could cause real harm to the user.

The vast majority of Bee Cosmetics products don’t contain water. Balms, butters, soaps, scrubs, serum, cleansers and ointments are water free so do not need additional preservation. These products are naturally safe without preservatives.

Many people choose to avoid Parabens; for this reason Bee Cosmetics does not use paraben based preservatives in our moisturisers. However, the European Cosmetics Regulations which control cosmetic products in the UK endorses the use of parabens. Parabens are widely regarded as safe.

Whatever your personal view on the subject, with Bee Cosmetics, your skin care will be preservative or paraben free.
